Alright, let’s talk about them electric scissor lifts, you know, the things that go up and down like, well, scissors! I seen ’em used all over the place, mostly indoors, I reckon. They’re kinda quiet, not like them noisy gas ones, and that’s a good thing, I guess. Don’t want too much racket, right?
What are these things anyway? Well, they’re platforms, see? They got these criss-crossy arms underneath that lift ya up high. Handy for gettin’ to things up there, like fixin’ lights or paintin’ walls, I suppose. They run on ‘lectricity, so no stinkin’ gas fumes, which is nice if you’re workin’ inside.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I heard you gotta take care of these things. It’s like lookin’ after your mule, gotta feed it and keep it clean, ya know? Same with these lifts, gotta keep ’em oiled up and check on the batteries. They say somethin’ about “hydraulic fluid,” sounds fancy, but it’s just the stuff that makes it go up and down smooth. Gotta make sure there’s enough of it and the right kind, the kind the fella who sold it to ya tells ya to use. Don’t go puttin’ just anythin’ in there, ya hear?
- Check the batteries: If it’s one of them ‘lectric ones, gotta keep them batteries charged up. Ain’t no good if it dies on ya halfway up.
- Look for leaks: If you see anythin’ drippin’, that ain’t good. Means somethin’s busted, gotta get it fixed.
- Keep it clean: Don’t let dirt and grime build up. Wipe it down now and then, keep it lookin’ decent.
And for goodness sake, be careful when you’re up there! Don’t be leanin’ over the sides or tryin’ to reach too far. Stay on the platform, that’s what it’s there for. And the folks down below, they gotta watch out too. Don’t want nobody gettin’ squashed if somethin’ goes wrong. And watch out for them wires, electricity ain’t nothin’ to mess with. You get zapped, you’ll be fried like a chicken.
They got different kinds, I think. Some are bigger, some are smaller. Some go higher, some not so high. Just gotta pick the one that’s right for the job. And don’t go buyin’ some cheap piece of junk, ya get what ya pay for, that’s what my pappy always said. Spend a little more, get somethin’ that’ll last. And keep it maintained, that’s the key. Take care of it, and it’ll take care of you.
I hear tell you can get a list, somethin’ they call a “maintenance checklist.” Sounds like a good idea, helps ya remember what to do. Like a recipe for keepin’ your lift runnin’ right. And if you ain’t sure about somethin’, ask somebody who knows. Don’t be too proud to ask for help, that’s what I always say. Better to be safe than sorry.
Safety first, that’s the main thing. These lifts can be real handy, but ya gotta use ’em right. Don’t be foolin’ around, pay attention to what you’re doin’. And keep it maintained, that’s the other big thing. Do that, and you’ll be alright.
So, there ya have it, my two cents on them electric scissor lifts. Not a whole lot, maybe, but enough to get ya started. Just remember, be careful, be smart, and keep it maintained. And don’t forget to charge them batteries!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper.
