Well, let me tell ya ’bout these here freight elevator doors. They ain’t like them fancy doors in them regular elevators, no sir. These things are big, real big, and strong, gotta be strong to haul all that stuff up and down, y’know?
I seen all sorts of these doors, they come in different types, I guess. Some open real fast, some a bit slower. Some open from the middle, like a curtain, and some slide open to one side. It all depends on what kinda stuff you’re haulin’, I reckon.
You got yer single speed doors, they just open and close at one speed, nothin’ fancy. Then there’s them two speed doors, they start slow, then go faster, then slow down again afore they close. Kinda like me gettin’ outta bed in the mornin’.
Them center parting doors, they open from the middle, both sides movin’ at the same time. Looks kinda nice, but I don’t care much about looks, long as they get the job done. And then you got yer bi-parting doors, similar, but maybe they slide a little different, I ain’t no expert on the names, y’know.
Now, these doors gotta be big, real big. I heard tell they gotta be at least eight feet tall, six feet wide, and five feet deep. That’s so you can get all sorts of stuff in there, big boxes, furniture, whatever you gotta move. And they gotta be fast, too, gotta move that stuff quick. They say they go somethin’ like 150 feet a minute, but that don’t mean nothin’ to me, long as it’s fast.

Them regular elevator doors, them automatic ones, they’re different, much smaller, and lighter. They ain’t made for haulin’ stuff, just people. These freight doors, they’re the workhorses, they do the heavy liftin’. They gotta be tough, made of good strong metal, not like that flimsy stuff they use for other things. I heard some companies, they make these doors real good, all over the world, not just here. They know what they’re doin’, makin’ sure these doors can handle whatever you throw at ‘em.
And talkin’ ‘bout makin’ ‘em, I guess there’s a lot that goes into it. You gotta build the doors, then you gotta put ‘em in, and then you gotta keep ‘em workin’ right. That’s a lot of work, but it’s important, ‘cause if them doors break down, you ain’t movin’ nothin’. I don’t know much about the makin’ part, but I know it’s important. Gotta have good parts, good controls, everything gotta be just right.
Some folks, they care about all them fancy mechanical parts and controls. Me? I just care if the door opens and closes when it’s supposed to. I don’t need no fancy gadgets, just somethin’ that works. Simple is better, that’s what I always say. You don’t need a bunch of bells and whistles, just somethin’ that’s gonna get the job done.
So, that’s what I know ‘bout freight elevator doors. They’re big, they’re strong, and they gotta work hard. They come in different types, but they all do the same thing: move stuff up and down. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? Gettin’ the job done.
You need doors that can handle the load, you need doors that are the right size, and you need doors that are reliable. It ain’t rocket science, it’s just common sense. You get what you pay for, I reckon. You want cheap doors, you’re gonna have problems. You want good doors, you gotta spend a little more, but it’s worth it in the long run.
So next time you see one of them freight elevators, take a look at the doors. They might not look like much, but they’re workin’ hard, day in and day out, haulin’ all sorts of stuff. And that’s somethin’ to appreciate, ain’t it? The hard workin’ things, they don’t always get the credit they deserve.
